Start separating the waste in to biodegradables and non biodegradables. Give your confidential documents to a shredding company who would recycle the shredded papers. Get a recycle items collecting company to collect the paper and other recyclable items. Some simple tips to practice 3R at Office 1. Reduce excessive usage of stationary 2. Use electronic media to reduce printing and faxing 3. Cancel junk mails and unwanted publications 4. Reduce the amount of ink you are using by changing options 5. Print on both sides as much as possible 6. Switch off your computer if you are away for a long time 7. Avoid taking polystyrene boxes as much as possible if you buy your lunch from outside. Do not remember to say no to the polythene bag 8. Encourage employees to bring their own washable mugs to work or consider providing mugs as a gift 9. Keep a water dispenser in your meeting hall rather than using individual bottled water 10. Avoid use of disposable plates and cups at official parties and meetings 11. Avoid over production of marketing promotional materials 12. Switch off fans/ air conditioning machine and lights if you are away. 13. Choose minimally packaged products or ask supplier to supply with less packaging material 14. Ask your supplier to take excess packaging away with them when they deliver if possible
1. Collect all one side printed papers and keep in a scrap paper box to reuse them in printing drafts or use as scrap message pads 2. Reuse envelopes whenever possible
1. Keep two bins in your office premises to dispose biodegradable and non biodegradables do not let food waste mix with other waste 2. Do not put the food waste in site more than one polythene bag. 3. Try to set up a composting set up at your office premise if there is enough space in the garden 4. Recyclables: • Hand over to the recyclable collecting vehicle or • Drop off at a collection point or • Sell the papers and newspapers getting collected to a “botal pattara shop or a man” and Collect money for welfare • Call an recyclable items collecting company to come and pick up your non recyclables Such companies will conduct a survey at your office and give you collecting boxes at a small deposit. Upon your telephone call they will take your recyclable items when the containers are filled. |
